We love stories. here’s ours…

In the early 20th century, the streetcars of Los Angeles’ Yellow Car line entered Huron Substation to have their electrical current changed to a higher voltage. Over a hundred years later, Artistic Director Alden Ehrenreich and Founding Executive Director Julie Cohn, established Huron Station Playhouse to serve the same purpose — this time re-energizing artists and audiences through the power of live theater.

Since opening in Fall 2024, HSP has been honored to produced six staged readings featuring directors such as Anne Kauffman and Steve H. Broadnax III, and actors including Stephanie Hsu, Dylan O’Brien, and Alia Shawkat. On December 6, HSP hosted its inaugural fundraiser, centered around a one-night- only reading of Our Town featuring Robert Downey Jr., Kaitlyn Dever, and John Cho.

Additional programming has also included acting workshops and a playwrights’ circle led by Pulitzer Prize Finalist Clare Barron (Dance Nation). The theater has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter, and continues to expand its role as a creative hub through workshops, screenings, concerts, and community events.

At its core, Huron is a watering hole and home for artists and audiences to gather, challenge each other, and grow as a collective - providing the world with deeper, more humane work that can enrich our lives for generations to come.
